See the Home of Shakespeare as Well as The Cotswolds

With one of our licensed Blue Badge Driver-Guides picking you up from your central London hotel's lobby, you will drive North to Stratford-upon-Avon. Revered as the home of William Shakespeare it sits beside the sleepy River Avon with half-timbered Tudor and Elizabethan houses as well as the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Key sights you will see include Shakespeare's Birthplace (a fine new exhibition on his life shows one of the priceless First Folios), his wife Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Nash House and New Place – where the playwright died – and his burial place and tomb, complete with famous ‘curse,’ at Holy Trinity Church.
You will then turn South into The Cotswolds, with tiny stone villages tucked into the folds and foothills of the escarpment, over 1,000ft at its highest point and divided by miles of dry stone walls. Try out a pub or one of the many small restaurants specialising in local food. See the distinctive sheep known as the ‘Cotswold Lions’ and villages built on wool wealth during your guided tours in Stratford and Cotswolds. The high streets of Broadway and Chipping Campden are lined with cottages and inns, Moreton-in-Marsh, on the Fosse Way, has a thriving market, Bourton-on the-Water is known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds and Sudeley Castle was home to the final (and surviving) wife of Henry VIII, Katherine Parr.
