Immersion in the World of Van Gogh

Enchanting first Daubigny, Corot, and Daumier, Auvers-sur Oise subsequently attracted the major names of Impressionism. Begin by visiting Van Gogh’s house located at the Auberge Ravoux and immerse yourself in its unique ambience. Here, Van Gogh lived until his death in 1890. Today one can see his miraculously preserved room and a museum devoted to him. Then visit, Daubigny’s workshop were many artists famous artists stayed at and where Van Gogh’s found inspiration for some of his paintings.
With a knowledgeable English-speaking driver, explore Auvers-sur-Oise. See the 12th century church, immortalized by Van Gogh and one of the most popular places to visit. Look inside Van Gogh’s last home, a tiny room at the Auberge Ravoux in Auvers.
Stop in to see Van Gogh's burial site. The famous painter died in Auvers-sur-Oise in 1890 and his brother and confident, Theo, who died a year later, is buried just beside him. Two steles against the left side wall of the cemetery modestly indicate the place where the two are buried.
Then tour the Notre-Dame Church (not the Cathedral in Paris). Originally a small chapel built towards the end of the 11th century, the rest of the church was added from the 11th century through the 13th century. It is most renowned for its association with Van Gogh, who immortalized it with a liveliness of unique colors. Finally visit the Auvers Castle, a possession of an Italian banker dating back to the 17th century. It features a public French style garden, which will add an elegant touch to your trip.
